Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a pipe junction with improved characteristics with respect to ability to absorb a continued lateral load.
CONSTITUTION: The pipe junction has two sealing surfaces 6, 36 each located on each edges 2, 4 of two pipes, and a sealing device equipped with a sealing ring 18. The sealing surfaces 6, 36 constitute a cylindrical sealing space, into which the sealing ring 18 is squeezed. In connection with the sealing ring, a hollow 34 is arranged at a periphery of the pipe to partially accept the elastic material of the sealing ring 18. The sealing surfaces 6, 36 form a support to bear a lateral load at both sides of the sealing ring, and constitute small sealing spaces of essentially the same width at both sides of the sealing ring 18 in the longitudinal direction of the junction.
