Abstract:
PURPOSE: To simplify the manufacturing process by providing the first substrate on the same plane as a maintenance electrode group arranged with a set of three maintenance electrodes and the second substrate arranged with an address electrode group in the direction intersecting with the maintenance electrode group.
CONSTITUTION: Two parallel maintenance electrodes SA, SB and the third maintenance electrode S, between the parallel electrodes SA, SB are arranged in the same direction on the same plane as a back substrate 2 in this PDP. Three electrodes are driven by the same method as the conventional three-phase drive. An address electrode W is formed on a front substrate 1 on the opposite side perpendicularly to the three electrodes SA, SB, SC. The maintenance electrodes SA, SB and the intermediate maintenance electrode SC are concurrently formed on a glass substrate by deposition, photolithography, and etching, a dielectric substance layer 23 is formed on them, and a MgO layer 24 is deposited on it to form the substrate 2. An address electrode W, a dielectric substance layer 23, the MgO layer 24, and a phosphor layer 11 are formed in sequence on a front glass plate 10 to form the substrate 1.
