Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a plasma display panel which has solved the problem that the specifications of brightness and contrast can not be met in practical application, because enhancement of the brightness is contradictory to the enhancement of the contrast theoretically.
CONSTITUTION: The width WH of a bulkhead formed perpendicular to a surface discharge electrode on a light absorbing bulkhead 5 is made greater than the width WD of a light reflecting bulkhead 6, as different from a conventional arrangement. The optimum value of the width WV of a bulkhead formed parallel with the surface discharge electrode depending upon cell size is determined from the formula given below. That is, the optimum brightness and contrast are obtained when the following relationship is met; 0.6≤1-(WV/b)≤0.95 and 0.75≤(a-WH)/(a/WD)≤0.95, where (a) is cell pitch in the direction parallel with the surface discharge electrode, (b) is pitch in the direction perpendicular to the electrode. WV is width of bulkhead parallel with the surface discharge electrode of the photo-absorbing bulkhead 5 formed on the front base board 1, WH is width of bulkhead perpendicular to the electrode, and WD is width of bulkhead formed on the rear base board 10.
