Title:
PLASMA TRANSPORTATION METHOD ACROSS MAGNETIC FIELD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2507908
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To smoothly transport plasma across the magnetic field by accelerating the high-density plasma into a supersonic stream via electromagnetic acceleration or thermal drive type arc jets, and guiding it through a hollow insulating tube.
CONSTITUTION: A hollow insulating tube 2 gradually flared toward the outside is arranged at the outlet end of a supersonic plasma source 1, a plasma stream is guided along the tube while the speed is not reduced, the induced electromotive force is prevented from being short-circuited through external structures, thus the high speed is maintained, and the diamagnetic current is reduced. Multiple electromagnetic accelerators or thermal drive type arc jets capable of extracting the supersonic plasma stream are bundled and integrally arranged on the plasma source 1 to obtain the plasma stream having a high Mach number. The plasma stream is smoothly transported across the magnetic field 3, and the fuel injection into a nuclear fusion reactor or the ion feed to the electromagnetic accelerator can be efficiently performed.
