PURPOSE: To reduce the wear of a printing form when a plate cylinder is coated with the printing form by forming a specified slide coating used for coating a ramp-like transition piece on the surface of the plate cylinder and provided with high wear resistance and high compressibility resistance.
CONSTITUTION: A ring channel 9 is formed all around a cylinder between a cylinder section 3 for centering preliminarily a printing form 2 and a supporting section 8 of a plate cylinder 1. A ramp-like transition piece 11 is formed as one slide coating on the ring channel 9, and a part 12 of its surface is so formed as to be on the same plane as the surface of the supporting section 8 of the plate cylinder 1. A coating material is composed of a material different from a material coating the remaining surface of the cylinder 1, and the material for the printing form 2 is protected from being brought into contact with the cylinder, particularly with a chrome-coated cylinder, when being expanded on the surface of the guide face of the transition piece. The wear of the printing form is prevented by the slide coating.
