PURPOSE: To make the manufacture of an optical connector which is simple in construction, does not require centering, is stable against mechanical impact and is highly accurate easy and sure by incorporating a capillary tube of brittle sintered material for guiding an optical fiber into a metal collar thereby forming the plug.
CONSTITUTION: For example, ceramics of brittle sintered material comprising essential alumina are molded to form a capillary tube 11 and if this is polished, it is easily polished to highly accurate outside diameter, hole diameter, etc. This pipe 11 of a hle shoulder part 13, a microhole 12 of an inside diameter slightly larger than the outside diameter of an optical fiber 3, and an outside diameter of a predetermined size is press-fitted to a metal collar 9 of stainless steel or the like of high inside diameter accuracy and the collars 9, 11 are combined.
