Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a polyimide material that has superior heat resistance as well as superior optical characteristics and dielectric characteristics, while having a resource of biological origin used as a raw material therefor. A polyimide that has a repeating unit represented by general formula (1) and has a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 210°C or greater as calculated by thermomechanical analysis is provided as a means of solving this problem. (In the formula, each R1 independently represents a C1-6 straight-chain or branched-chain alkyl group, a C5 or 6 cyclic alkyl group, a C1-6 straight-chain or branched-chain alkoxy group, a C5 or 6 cyclic alkoxy group, a C6-8 aryl group, a C6-8 aryloxy group, a C1-6 straight-chain or branched-chain halogenated alkyl group, or a halogen atom; each n independently represents 0 or an integer from 1 to 3; and A represents a divalent group that is represented by general formula 5, or a divalent organic group that includes a C4-30 cyclic aliphatic group.) (In the formula, each R2 independently represents a C1-6 straight-chain or branched-chain alkyl group, a C5 or 6 cyclic alkyl group, a C1-6 straight-chain or branched-chain alkoxy group, a C5 or 6 cyclic alkoxy group, a C6-8 aryl group, a C6-8 aryloxy group, a C1-6 straight-chain or branched-chain halogenated alkyl group, or a halogen atom; each m independently represents 0 or an integer from 1 to 4; p, q, and r represent 0 or 1; X represents a direct bond, an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, a sulfonyl group (–SO2–), a carbonyl group (–CO–), an amido group (–NHCO–), an ester group (–OCO–), a C1-15 alkylidene group, a C2-15 fluorine-including alkylidene group, a C5-15 cycloalkylidene group, a phenylene group, or a fluorenylidene group; and each * represents a bond location.)
