To provide polymer powder and granular material easy to ground in a drying process, extremely excellent in desolvation properties and good in handling properties, and a method for producing the same.

In pulverizing a polymer by removing a solvent from a good solvent soln. of the polymer, the good solvent soln. of the polymer and a solidifying solvent of which the amt. is 0.5-1.3 with respect to the polymer in a wt. ratio are added to hot water of which the temp. is controlled to temp. higher than the b.p. of the good solvent by 3-7°C under stirring to produce polymer particles. The polymer particles contain 5-50 wt.% of the good solvent and 2-20 wt.% of the solidifying solvent and the crushing strength thereof is 2.5×10-3-2.5×10 N and the tackiness thereof is below 2.5×10-3 N.
