To produce a polypropylene composition having moderate mechanical properties during the use, capable of biochemically exhibiting degradability after the use and finally degradable into gaseous carbon dioxide and water without damaging an incineration furnace with a low calorific value when burned and without producing toxic wastes and to provide a method for producing the composition.
This polypropylene composition is obtained by mixing 50-80 pts. of polypropylene with 20-50 pts. of a hydrous natural starch-based polymer as principal components, compounding 0.1-5 pts. of an unsaturated fatty acid ester, 0.01-0.5 pt. of an organic transition metal salt, 0.1-5 pts. of a stearic acid metal salt and 0.1-5 pts. of a titanate-based coupling agent with the resultant mixture and extruding the prepared mixture with an extrusion apparatus. The resultant composition has biochemical degradability.
