Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone that is provided with an automatic scrolling and displaying function for general screen display made for setting functions so as to reduce the key operating burden imposed upon the user of the telephone.
SOLUTION: The portable telephone is constituted in such a way that, when an automatic scroll starting key is pressed down, the telephone starts automatic scroll for successively displaying a functional menu and, when a scroll stopping key is pressed down, the telephone stops the scroll. When a decision key is pressed down, the telephone decides a function and, simultaneously, starts the automatic scroll of a more detailed menu and, when the scroll stopping key is again pressed down, the telephone stops the scroll. When the decision key is again pressed down, the telephone completes the setting of the function. The user can freely set the automatic scrolling speed of the display screen of the functional menu or more detailed menu. When no scroll stopping request is made for a fixed period of time after the automatic scroll is started, the telephone automatically stops the scroll.
