PURPOSE: A powdery lustering agent for automobiles, consisting of a powdery fatty acid amide wax (derivative), and capable of adhering well to the coated surface of an automobile body only by coating thereon and exhibiting transparency and improved lustrousness, water repellency and durability.

CONSTITUTION: A fatty acid amide wax or a derivative thereof, e.g. a fatty acid amide of the formula RCONH2, a fatty acid methylolamide of the formula RCONHCH2OH or a fatty acid methylenebisamide of the formula RCONHCH2NHCOR (R is preferably 8W20C fatty acid group), or both are pulverized at a temperature of 20±15°C in a ball mill, etc. to give a powdery lustering agent having a particle size of 100W350 mesh. An ordinary lustering agent, e.g. carnauba wax, may be incorporated in the agent if necessary in an amount of 10W80wt%.

EFFECT: Drying after the coating is not necessary, and the coating can be carried out easily due to no water and solvent.
