Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resistor having a high heat capacity per unit vol. and low variation per hour of its value at high temp. by reducing the resistance value of electrode-adjacent portions of a pair of main faces of a sintered block contg. Al2O3 as a main and specified amount of C as a sub-component, than that of the interior part of the block.
SOLUTION: A power resistor is a sintered block contg. Al2O3 as a main and C 0.3-5wt.% as a sub-component which has electrodes at a pair of its main faces and the resistance value of the portions adjacent to the electrodes is lower than that of the interior of the block or 0.5-0.05 times that of the block center. A power resistor device is composed of a plurality of resistors, each is a sintered block contg. Al2O3 as a main and C 0.3-5wt.% as a sub-component and having regions different in C content which has electrodes at a pair of its main faces and the resistivity of the portions adjacent to the electrodes is lower than that of the interior of the block.
