To provide a power transmission system capable of configuring a system at a low cost without requiring a complicated circuit for determining an optimum frequency.
A power transmission system for transmitting electric energy from a power transmission antenna to a power reception antenna through an electromagnetic field comprises: an inverter unit for converting DC voltage to AC voltage having a predetermined frequency, and outputting the AC voltage; a power transmission side control unit for controlling so that a drive frequency in the inverter unit is fixed at a predetermined frequency, and controlling so that a power value output from the inverter unit is constant by controlling a voltage value of the DC voltage input to the inverter unit; the power transmission antenna to which the AC voltage from the inverter unit is input; a rectification unit for rectifying output from the power reception antenna to DC voltage and outputting the DC voltage; a step-up/down unit for stepping up or stepping down the DC voltage output from the rectification unit, and outputting the stepped-up/down voltage; a battery 240 charged with output from the step-up/down unit; and a power reception side control unit for controlling the step-up/down unit to charge the battery with maximum efficiency.
