To exactly grasp a rise in temperature in a living body during ultrasonic irradiation as an important issue of the biological safety of ultrasound, which is one of two kinds of influcence, caused by heat generation and mechanical action, given by the irradiation of high-power ultrasound to the living body although a study concerning the influence on the living body given by the high-power ultrasound in terms of "biological safety" is underway, which is contrary to a current trend that the high-power ultrasound is used for an ultrasonic diagnosis and treatment.
This method creates only one kind of biological temperature phantom using materials which are generally easy to obtain, are stable, and do not change largely over time; measures the temperature rise by the ultrasound using this biological temperature phantom; and enables the temperature rise in living tissue to be predicted by performing a simple calculation using known thermophysical property values of the living body.
