PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prepaid card system which can obtain information on the sales period of the prepaid card of a storage source with respect to the use amount of the prepaid card system, and to provide a reader, a ticket-issuing machine and a card use situation managing method.
SOLUTION: This ticket-issuing machine 13 discriminates whether or not sales time information showing the sales period is stored in the prepaid card 10 which is a ticket-issuing object. When sales time information is not stored, the ticket-issuing machine 13 records sales time information and discharges it. When sales time information is stored, it discharges sales time information without recording it. The reader 15 has a sum-up table for every period for storing sum-up periods divided for every prescribed period and sum-up amounts corresponding to them. It detects the pertinent sum-up period, based on sales time information of the installed prepaid card 10. The reader 15 adds the use amount of the card to the sum-up amount corresponding to the detected sum-up period. Information on the summed-up amount is transmitted to a center 17 from the reader 15.
