Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prepare a pretreatment agent capable of giving a sufficient adhesive strength without excessively etching dentine even when dentine and enamel are simultaneously treated.
CONSTITUTION: This pretreatment agent contains (A) an organic sulfonic acid metal salt, e.g. an alkali metal salt of methanesulfonic acid, p-toluenesulfonic acid, methallylsulfonic acid, etc., (B) a hydrophobic carboxylic acid having a ≥3C alkyl group or alkenyl group or an aryl group in the molecule, preferably a compound of formula I [R1 is H or a lower alkyl; (n) is 3 to 20] or formula II (R2 is H or a lower alkyl; R3 is a 2 to 20C organic residue), (C) water and (D) an alcohol compatible with water, preferably ethanol. The respective amounts of (A) and (B) are 1 to 30 pts.wt. and 1 to 20 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. the total amount of (C) and (D) [(D) is 50 to 300 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. (C)]. As the pretreatment method, a method carried out by applying the agent using a sponge or a small brush until the adherend surface gets wet thoroughly is adopted in general.
