PURPOSE: To prevent the breakage of a transfer material, the occurrence of of wrinkles in large quantities, the disarrangement of toner and soil due to its dissipation to a device by maintaining a clearance smaller than the thickness of the sheet-like transfer material on the surface of an image carrier and causing said clearance to be gradually made smaller while turning.

CONSTITUTION: When the transfer material, attaching to a photosensitive material, advances to reach the position of a cam 14, a shaft 11 is inclined to turn counterclockwise against the actions of springs 12a and 12b. Then a distance (d) increases to accept the transfer material, whereby the cam 14 turns counterclockwise against the action of a spring 13 by holding the transfer material. Initially the cam 14 comes to accept the transfer material with its part of a minimum radius opposite to the photosensitive body. However, as the turning proceeds,the radius of the cam becomes gradually larger, so that the distance (d) to the photosensitive body tends to become smaller by a corresponding amount. Simultaneously, the actions of the springs 12a and 12b, which press the cam 14 toward the photosensitive body, become larger. Accordingly the transfer material is strongly pressed on the photosensitive body, and stops in a state of being bent.
