PURPOSE: To repeatedly perform accurate printing continuously and stably by using a surface-treated rubber elastomer in offset type printing and making the surface properties of the rubber elastomer hard to change even when the rubber elastomer absorbs the solvent of ink.

CONSTITUTION: A printing method consists of a process filling the recessed parts 3a of an intaglio 3 with ink 2, a process transferring ink from the intaglio to a transfer member being a roller 4 of which the surface is covered with a rubber elastomer 4' having releasability and subjected to plasma etching treatment using gas selected from either one of oxygen, argon and nitrogen or the irradiation with ultraviolet rays and a process printing the ink 2 on the transfer member on a material 5 to be printed.
