To provide a pyrolysis/fusion process for organic-matter-containing waste, by which both fusion of inorganic matter in the waste and decomposition of dioxins in the waste can stably be performed by utilizing only the energy of the organic matter in the waste.

This waste pyrolysis/fusion process comprises: subjecting waste containing organic matter to pyrolysis in a pyrolysis furnace 1; separating the resulting pyrolysis product into a gaseous component and a char mixture which consists essentially of carbon and also contains noncombustible matter; adding water to the separated char mixture to form a slurry; subjecting the slurry to solid-liquid separation; and further subjecting inorganic matter (noncombustible matter in the separated solid matter) to fusion (slagging) treatment in a fusion furnace 7; wherein the separated solid matter in the solid-liquid separation stage is supplied to a storage vessel 6 and used as a storable fuel.
