Abstract:
To provide a process capable of industrially advantageously producing 5-menthyloxy-(5H)-furanone economically in a high yield.
The process for producing 5-menthyloxy-(5H)-furanone includes a step of reacting a 5-alkoxy-2(5H)-furanone with menthol in the presence of an acid catalyst while distilling off an alcohol formed.
