To provide a polymerization process for producing a liquid poly-alphaolefin polymer, employing hydrogen and a crosslinked metallocene activated as a catalyst composition; to provide a polymerization process of olefins requiring no hydrogenation step for providing a saturated liquid low-molecular weight poly-alphaolefin polymer; and to provide a liquid polyolefin polymer having a combination of a low molecular weight, low polydispersity index, controllable kinematic viscosity, low Iodine Number, and low glass transition temperature with the resulting polyolefin being substantially amorphous.
The method involves bringing at least one kind of monomers into contact with hydrogen, and a catalytically effective amount of catalytic composition comprising the product obtained by combining(a) a metallocene procatalyst, preferably the one containing a crosslinking group having at least two bulky groups, with (b) a cocatalyst, preferably an aluminoxane.
