Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce an alloy additive for improving the machinability of a Ti alloy by incorporating a specified percentage of Al into a rare earth metal(REM).
CONSTITUTION: An alloy additive consisting of ≤50wt.% Al and the balance essentially REM is prepd. This alloy additive is a brittle material and cracked easily. When the additive is added to a Ti alloy in a crushed state, it is uniformly dispersed in the Ti alloy and improves the machinability of the Ti alloy.
