Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a process for producing anthranilic acid which is started from directly corresponding ortho-nitrotoluene and does not require the intermediate isolation of the sulfonic acid obtainable from this compd.
CONSTITUTION: The anthranilic acid sulfonated in the fourth position of a ring is produced by sulfonating the ortho-nitrotoluene by using chlorosulfonic acid or oleum, then oxidizing the methyl group and finally reducing the nitro group.
