PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain a dibromofluoroalkane in good yield at a low cost by brominating a monobromomonofluoroalkane used as 2 starting substance.
CONSTITUTION: A monobromomonofluoroalkane of formula I (R is H or 1-10C alkyl) is made to react with bromine to provide the objective dibromofluoroalkane of formula II. The reaction is preferably carried out at 500-700°C. Bromofluoromethane, 1-bromo-1-fluoroethane, 1-bromo-1-fluorodecane, etc., are cited as the monobromomonofluoroalkane which is a starting substance. The bromine is used in an amount of preferably 1.0-2.0mol based on 1mol bromofluoroalkane. Since gaseous reaction is carried out, this method can be performed by using a tubular reactor according to a flow method. The raw material mixed gas is passed through the 100-1000ml/min flow velocity and made to react. When a heat-resistant tubular reactor such tubular reactor such as Pyrex(R) glass or quartz is used, side reaction can be suppressed to improve the yield of the objective compound.
