Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a livestock feed for cattle, pig, chicken, etc., pet feed for dog, cat, etc., or fish feed having high protein content and excellent digestibility by eliminating water-soluble hemicellulose from processed bean curd refuse and using the product as a component of the feed.
CONSTITUTION: Water-soluble hemicellulose is removed from bean curd refuse by hot-extraction under acidic condition near the isoelectric point. The processed bean curd refuse is used singly as the feed or as a component of the feed. The protein content of the bean curd refuse is increased from about 30% to about 50% by this treatment. The obtained feed is useful as a component of a creep ration. It can be used as a feed for pisciculture without lowering the digestibility, ingestion rate and water quality.
