Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a printing plate improved in flexibility without affecting other properties by adding a specific monomer to a photosensitive composition comprising a binder having thermoplastic and elastomeric domains, an addition polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomer and a polymerization initiator before exposure. CONSTITUTION: A layer of a photosensitve composition comprising (A) a binder having thermoplastic and elastomeric domains, preferably a styrene-butadiene- styrene block copolymer having the thermoplastic styrene domains and elastomeric butadiene domains, (B) an initiator or an initiation system activated with actinic radiations, (C) an addition polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomer having some compatibility with both the domains of the binder, preferably 1,3-hexanediol diacrylate and (D) an additional addition polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomer having no compatibility with the elastomeric domains of the binder [at (l:4) to (4:1) weight ratio of the components C:D], e.g. pentaerythritol monohydroxypentaacrylate is imagewise exposed to the actinic radiations. The unexposed portions are then removed to carry out postdevelopment treatment.
