Title:
PRODUCTION OF HIGH STRENGTH ALUMINA-SILICA CERAMICS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03146461
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve strength by sintering Al2O3-SiO2 ceramics contg. impurities such as Na2O and K2O regulated to a very small amt. basing on the total amt. of Al2O3 and SiO2 and reheating the sintered body.

CONSTITUTION: Powdery starting material consisting of 60-71.8wt.% Al2O3, 40-28.2wt.% SiO2 and (≤2,500ppm, in total, of impurities such as Na2O and K2O is calcined, pulverized, molded and sintered at 1,500-1,700°C in the air. This sintered body is reheated at 1,500°C for 4-96hr to obtain Al2O3-SiO2 ceramics having improved strength at ordinary temp. and high temp. of ≤1,300°C.
