Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry a desired metallic component on the surfaces of colloidal particles after a hydrosol is prepd.
SOLUTION: When a hydrosol is mixed with a metallic salt or its aq. soln. and an anion exchanger, a method causing no considerable change in the pH of the hydrosol is adopted. For example, a previously prepd. dil. aq. soln. of the metallic salt is slowly added to the colloidal soln. so that a precipitate is not formed. At this time, the colloidal soln. may be heated to a temp. below the max. service temp. of the anion exchanger. The anion exchanger is then added so as to maintain the original pH of the hydrosol. The anion exchanger may be added simultaneously with the addition of the aq. soln. After the addition, aging is preferably carried out at 80-90°C for several hr.
