PURPOSE: To produce a lysophospholipid scarcely containing lyso-type phospholipid other than LPC (lysophosphatidylcholine) on an industrial scale at a low cost, by dissolving a lysophospholipid in a polar solvent, etc., contacting the obtained solution with an ion exchange material and distilling out the solvent.

CONSTITUTION: A lysophospholipid (preferably refined lysophospholipid contain ing little neutral lipid or crude lysophospholipid containing neutral lipid) is dissolved in a polar solvent (e.g. methanol, acetone or water) or a mixture of a polar solvent and a non-polar solvent (e.g. n-pentane or benzene). The obtained solution is made to contact with preferably 5W40 times volume (V/W) of an ion exchange material and the solvent is distilled out from the treated solution to obtain the objective lysophospholipid.
