Abstract:
To provide a transesterification product substantially free from a metallic transesterification catalyst and to provide a method for producing an alkyd resin substantially free of a metallic transesterification catalyst by using the transesterification product.
(1) A fat and oil is reacted with a polyhydric alcohol in the presence of a metallic transesterification catalyst to form a transesterification product 1. (2) A fat and oil is reacted with a polyhydric alcohol in the presence of the obtained transesterification product 1 without using any metallic transesterification catalyst to form a transesterification product 2.
