Title:
PRODUCTION OF OPTICALLY ACTIVE CHROMAN COMPOUND
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3638644
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an optically active chroman compound useful as an intermediate for medicines and agrochemicals by hydrolyzing a specific chroman-based compound using an enzyme.
CONSTITUTION: A chroman-based compound of formula I (R1 is H, an aralkyl, an alkanoyl or an aroyl; R2 is an alkanoyl or an aroyl) is asymmetrically hydrolyzed in a polar solvent such as acetonitrile in the presence of preferably an enzyme derived from a microorganism belonging to the genus Alcaligenes to afford an optically active chroman compound of formula II (* indicates asymmetric carbon) and an optically active chroman compound of formula III which is an ester of its antipode. Both are then separated by utilizing a difference in physical properties such as polarity. Furthermore, Lipase 266(R), Lipase QL(R) and Lipase QLG(R) which is an immobilized enzyme of the Lipase QL(R), are cited as examples of the enzyme.
