Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce an ORI control additive in a short time in a high yield at a low cost by reacting a specific acid anhydride with a specific diamine at a specified temp. and stopping the reaction when the infrared absorbance of the reaction mixture reaches about the same value successively twice.
CONSTITUTION: In the process for producing an ORI control additive by reacting polybutenylsuccinic anhydride with a polyoxyalkylenediamine, the reaction is conducted at about 163-191°C while the infrared absorbance of the reaction mixture is being observed, and when the absorbance reaches about the same value successively twice, the reaction is stopped. Thus, the additive can be produced in a very short time at a low cost in enhanced yield.
