In a paper machine equipped with plural vats 2 to 5 and cylinder molds 6 to 9, the revolving speed of at least a first cylinder mold 6 or a last cylinder mold 9 or the revolving speeds of both the cylinder molds 6 and 9 are differentiated from that of a rotary endless belt 13 so that the thickness of a paper stock attached to the rotary endless belt 13 is partially changed and an irregular pattern is formed by appearance of a lower layer web or an inner layer web on the surface layer face or an irregular pattern is formed by appearance of the inner layer web on the surface or the back layer face to produce the objective pattern paper. Or a dyeing solution is sprayed on a wet web layer at least to become an upper layer to form a color pattern, to which an intermediate paper stock is bonded to give a pattern paper.
