Title:
PRODUCTION OF POLYMODAL POLYMER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2718593
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a novel tapered block copolymer comprising a conjugated diene and a vinyl-substituted aromatic hydrocarbon and having improved environmental stress cracking resistance and a process for producing the same.
CONSTITUTION: There is provided a process for producing a tapered block copolymer in a polymerization process by sequentially charging: (1) an initiator and monovinylaromatic monomers in the presence of a randomizer; (2) an initiator and a mixture of monovinylaromatic monomers and conjugated diene monomers; (3) an initiator and a mixture of monovinylaromatic monomers and conjugated diene monomers; and (4) a coupling agent. This copolymer is useful in packaging applications requiring good environmental cracking resistance.
