PURPOSE: To easily obtain a superconducting oxide composition useful to a superconducting magnet, etc., being high in density and having a uniform thin film by sintering a gel obtained by hydrolysis and polymerization of a sol produced from a specific solution under the O2-containing atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A compound containing one kind or more cation ions selected from Y and rare-earth metals, (B) a compound containing one kind or more cation ions selected from Ba and Sr alkaline earth metals, and (C) a precursor of Cu oxide (e.g. Cu cyclohexane butylate), are mixed to be 1:2:3 at a mol ratio of A:B:C compound, and are dissolved into butanol to produce a sol of alkoxide. Next, this sol is applied on a substrate in a thin film, then is dried to obtain a gel film. Subsequently the gel film is sintered in the air atmosphere at a first stage and successively is sintered at 400-900°C under the O2 atmosphere at a second stage to obtain the superconducting composition.
