When a remote control program installed in a mobile phone is started, the program reads a menu number of a control menu displayed and outputted to a television receiver from a storage section of the mobile phone, and displays corresponding help information to a display section of the mobile phone (S100, S110). The program is used to display button confirmation information for confirming a function of each button in response to the operation of each button of an operation section of the mobile phone and converts an input signal into a control signal and transmits it together with the menu number (S120 to S150). When the control menu is switched attended with the transmitted control signal, the menu number in the storage section is updated into a value corresponding to the control menu after switching and the processing restores to the step S100. As a result, in the case of remotely controlling a prescribed apparatus by using the mobile terminal, the operation is more easily done and the support information on the operation of the prescribed apparatus is more properly provided to the user.
