Abstract:
PURPOSE:To increase the rate of the picture element opening, to increase the display capacity and to execute the display with high resolution by providing the parts to which each voltage of plural liquid crystal panels is applied so that they are not superposed on each other in the light transmission direction, and also, providing an electrode pattern like a checkered pattern. CONSTITUTION:This display device is set so that the liquid crystal molecule twisting directions of liquid crystal layers 11, 21 between liquid crystal panels 10, 20 becomes the reverse directions to each other, and also, liquid crystal molecule orientation azimuths in parts being adjacent to each other of each liquid crystal layer 11, 21 are intersected roughly orthogonally with each other. Also, in the respective liquid crystal panels 10, 20, display picture elements are provided so that they are not superposed on each other in the light transmission direction, and also, picture element electrodes 14a, 14b, 24a and 24b which become an arrangement pattern like a checkered pattern in the liquid crystal panels 10, 20 are provided. Accordingly, in the display in a laminated state, there is no gap between adjacent picture elements. In such a manner, the opening rate is increased, the display capacity can be increased remarkably, and a satisfactory display quality having high resolution is obtained.
