PURPOSE: To economically purify a chloroalkylamine hydrochloride in high purity, by treating a crude chloroalkylamine hydrochloride obtained by reaction of an alkanolamine hydrochloride with hydrogen chloride water solution using an organic amine and alkanolamine and further neutralizing the resultant free chloroalkylamine.
CONSTITUTION: An alkanolamine is reacted with hydrogen chloride to afford alkanolamine hydrochloride, which is then reacted with hydrogen chloride water solution to give a crude chloroalkylamine hydrochloride, which is neutralized at 5W30°C in the presence of an organic solvent such as n-hexane by the added alkanolamine of a reaction raw material and extracted as a free chloroalkylamine. Then hydrogen chloride gas or hydrogen chloride water solution is added to the free chloroalkylamine, which is neutralized at 10W30°C and pH 1W2 to provide the aimed chloroalkylamine hydrochloride. The chloroalkylamine hydrochloride is useful as an intermediate for medicine, agricultural chemicals, dyes or other various kind of industrial chemicals or a modifier for high polymer compound, etc.
