Abstract:

PURPOSE: A radiation sensitizer for increasing extremely susceptibility of inveterate low-oxygen cell existing in a malignant tumor to radiation, containing a specific dinitrobenzoic acid derivative as an active ingredient.

CONSTITUTION: A radiation sensitizer containing a dinitrobenzoic acid derivative shown by the formula [R is OM1/a, OR1, N(R2)R3; M is metal of group I a or IIa; a=1 or 2; R1W3 are, H, alkyl, etc.; R2 and R3 are bonded each other to show alkylene, oxadialkylene, etc.] as an active ingredient. The compound shown by the formula is found to increase extremely susceptibility of low-oxygen cell to radiation and to enlarge radiation remedying effect on a malignant tumor. A dose is sufficiently ≤1/50 that of misonidazole well-known as a sensitizer, and the compound has hardly toxicity with this amount of it.
