This ratchet type drive mechanism comprises a ratchet gear 7 having ratchet teeth 9 on the circumference, a ratchet L to be engaged with the ratchet teeth 9 of the ratchet gear 7, an operation lever 21 for operating the ratchet L, and a neutral returning mechanism T for returning each of the ratchet L and the operation lever 21 to a neutral position. In the ratchet L, the base parts of one ratchet 13a and the other ratchet 13b having tip engagement claw parts 14 to be engaged so as to rotate the ratchet gear 7 in mutually opposite directions at the tips, respectively, are mutually overlapped and rotatably mounted on a ratchet mounting member 10 through a ratchet mounting shaft 12. The ratchet mounting member 10 is mounted on an operation output shaft 6 having the ratchet gear 7 fixed thereto.
