PURPOSE: To allow easy opening and closing of an upper machine body to carry out inspection and maintenance operations as only the screen, reader and printing optical system are provided to the upper machine body and to mount the scanning mirror to a lower machine body so as not to apply impact to the scanning mirror at the time of opening and closing the machine bodies.

CONSTITUTION: This reader printer consists roughly of the upper machine body 1A and the lower machine body 1B. These two machine bodies 1A, 1B are coupled freely openably/closably and attachably/detachably by means of a hinge H. On the other hand, a film carrier 2, a projecting lens 3, the scanning mirror 4 and a 2nd mirror 9 for the reader are fixed to the prescribed positions of the lower machine body 1B. Only the screen S, the reader and the printing optical system 7 are provided to the upper machine body 1A and, therefore, the weight of the upper machine body is reduced. Since the scanning mirror 4 is provided to the immobile lower machine body 1B, the impact at the time of opening and closing the machine bodies are hardly transmitted to the scanning mirror 4. The easy opening and closing of the upper machine body without generating the impact are thereby enabled and the maintenance of the image forming part near the photosensitive body is facilitated.
