To receive information from a server surely.SOLUTION: A recording device comprises: mounting means on which consumables can be mounted; requesting means that requests a service system to transmit service relevant information concerning the consumables mounted on the mounting means, through communication means; receiving means that receives the service relevant information transmitted by the server system in response to the request by the requesting means, through the communication means; determining means that when a state of the communication means is transited from a first state where the means cannot communicate with the server system to a second state where the means can communicate with the server system, determines whether or not the request for the service relevant information by the requesting means is necessary on the basis of a history of reception of the service relevant information by the receiving means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
