PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve the problem that the data recording capacity is reduced because an unreproducible area is conventionally formed for protection from copy and the problem that electronic watermarks require special processing for detection thereof when being used because it is difficult to separate electronic watermarks from problems brought about at the time of forming pits.
SOLUTION: An ID area 2 is a read only area which cannot be altered by a user, and peculiar ID information different by mediums is preliminarily recorded in the ID area 2. A plurality of enciphering key information, first cryptographic keys, prescribed control, etc., are preliminarily recorded in a read-in area 3. Main information which is content data enciphered by using cryptographic key information and ID information delivered from a copyright holder is modulated in accordance with a prescribed modulation system meeting run length RLL (d, k) limits and is recorded in a user area 4, and the k limit of the RLL (d, k) limits is switched to record auxiliary information, which is a cryptographic key and copy control information, over the modulated main information in the user data area 4.
