Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide recording system and device capable of quickly checking a communication function of a connected image supply device and a method for controlling the recording system and device.
SOLUTION: A step (S2) for judging whether the image supply device corresponds to a prescribed communication rule or not on a physical layer depending on the hardware of a general interface and a step (S5) for judging whether the image supply device corresponds to the prescribed communication rule or not on a transport layer formed as the upper layer of the physical layer and capable of managing communication are set up. When the correspondence of the image supply device to the prescribed communication rule is not judged in both the steps S2, S5, whether the image supply device corresponds to the prescribed communication rule or not is judged on an application layer which is an upper layer of the transport layer (S9, S10).
