Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve accurate and smooth working for removing bone cement fixing an artificial joint in the operation of replacing the artificial joint.
SOLUTION: This remover for a bone cement is provided with a gutter-shaped part 51 with a circular arc-shaped cross section along the internal wall of a medullary space and a tip tool 5 on which is integrally formed an erection part 53 to be erected inward from the inner surface 52 of the gutter-shaped part. The tip tool is mounted on an ultrasonic oscillator. As the tip tool is forced deeper while the outer surface 57 of the gutter-shaped part 51 of the tip tool 5 is kept in contact with the internal wall, the bone cement is peeled off the marrow cavity while being cut open horizontally by the erection part 53. By repeating this operation, the bone cement is removed as if cut and peeled into stick-shaped pieces.
