Title:
REMOVING METHOD OF MERCURY IN GAS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5626533
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To perform the removal of mercury effectively by a method in which the mercury-containing gas is brought into contact with an adhesive or paint mixed with a mercury arrestor, adhered to a holder whose surface area is great, arranged so as to lessen pressure loss.

CONSTITUTION: In the removal of mercury present in the gas, particularly in the smelting waste gas of nonferrous metals, the adhesive or paint is mixed with the mercury arrestor, e.g., a nonmetal or metal sulfide, a metallic selenium compound, etc., and then adhered to an inorganic holder of a synthetic resin or an inorganic holder to obtain an adsorbent. By using the light weight and strong adsorbent having a great surface area and less pressure loss as well as any desired shape, the removal of mercury in waste gas, etc., can be effectively performed.
