To shorten a time until a past image is displayed by reading decoding, and displaying a prescribed coded data stream from a third memory means equipped with a control circuit for controlling a writing and reading address without reading an image displayed in the past from a coded data generatign part at the time of displaying the image displayed in the past again.

A third memory 3 for not only storing a future coded data stream for normal decoding but also for continuously storing a past several group-of pictures(GOP) coded data stream, and a control circuit 10 are added as primary constituting elements. The third memory 3 stores coded data stream of past several GOPs from the present display frame, and the control circuit 10 controls the wiring and reading of the third memory 3. That is, coded data stream of several GOPs just before the display frame is stored in the third memory 3 so that there is no need to perform seek operation.
