PURPOSE: To enable a discrimination between a reservation mode and a confirmation mode without adding any special display element by flashing a character display 'start' or 'end' displayed on a display in the confirmation mode.

CONSTITUTION: An input unit 1 is provided with an operating button for setting the present time, a reserved date, a picture recording starting time, a picture recording ending time, the channel of a broadcast program and the like and a mode setting switch for changing over and setting an operation mode between and to a reservation mode and a confirmation mode, respectively. A controller 2 discriminates the operation mode set in the input unit 1 and, in the reservation mode, stores reservation data with regard to a program reservation, such as the reserved date and the like, set by the operating button of the input unit 1 in a memory 3 and displays the data on a display 8. In the confirmation mode, the controller 2 reads reservation data stored in the memory 3 to display the data on the display 8 by characters and displays whether the reserved data relate to the starting time or the ending time by the flashing display of 'start' or 'end', respectively.
