Title:
RISER HEATING APPARATUS FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5937257
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To utilize heat of exhaust gas for heating an engine when the engine is not warmed up and to isolate the heat of exhaust gas when the engine is warmed up, by connecting the inlet side of a heated-water passage to an outlet of a water jacket formed on the rear side of the cylinder head and connecting the outlet side of the heated-water passage to the inlet side of a water pump.

CONSTITUTION: Since the temperature of cooling water is low at the time of warming up an engine, a thermostat valve 7 is closed, so that cooling water in a water jacket 6 is circulated from the water jacket 6 via a by-pass passage 10 and a water pump 9 again to the water jacket 6. However, when the cooling water is heated to a high temperature, an exhaust manifold 2 is also heated to a high temperature, so that heat of exhaust gas tends to be transmitted to an intake manifold 1. Here, since a heated-water passage 5 is disposed between the intake manifold 1 and the exhaust manifold 2 and cooling water cooled by a radiator 8 and kept at a temperature lower than a prescribed level is circulated through the heated-water passage 5, the heat of exhaust gas in the exhaust manifold 2 is isolated by the heated-water passage 5.
