To provide a roll useful in manufacturing a polyester resin sheet uniformly stretched at an equal thickness, and to provide a method of manufacturing the stretched thermoplastic polyester resin sheet with excellent tensile strength, tensile modulus of elasticity, heat resistance, etc., easily and stably by drawing and stretching, using the roll.
The roll for use in the drawing and stretching of a thermoplastic resin sheet has a diameter gradually decreasing from the ends of the roll toward the center, so that the peripheral wall has a hyperbolic profile in cross-section taken in the roll axial direction. The method of manufacturing the stretched thermoplastic polyester resin sheet includes drawing and stretching an amorphous thermoplastic polyester resin sheet at a constant speed by drawing and stretching the sheet between a pair of the rolls heated in the glass transition temperature range of -20C to +20C of the thermoplastic polyester resin.
